You retired the Lifetime plan — what are the two plans now, and what happens to anyone who already paid for Lifetime?

Accepted Answer

Today there are two customer-purchasable plans: Pro at £14.99/month recurring and Annual at £49.99/year recurring. The one-time Lifetime plan was retired on 30 July 2026 — it is no longer offered at checkout. Existing Lifetime accounts continue to work: any UserPlan row with plan=‘lifetime’ already in our database still satisfies paid access on its original ladder position, so composers who bought Lifetime are not downgraded. New signups today pick Pro or Annual only.

What counts as Creative Commons usage that still needs a licence — and what is just free to take?

A Creative Commons licence is a permissioned re-use of someone else’s music under specific written terms — not a "free for anything" stamp. There are six variants — CC BY, CC BY-SA, CC BY-NC, CC BY-NC-SA, CC BY-ND, and CC BY-NC-ND — and each one grants a different bundle of rights (commercial use, derivatives, share-alike, etc.). Reusing a CC track outside the terms its licence grants is still unauthorised use, and reusing music that is not CC-licensed at all — for example an unlicensed bootleg dropped on SoundCloud — is also unauthorised use. LicenseTrack detects both cases: CC terms exceeded and music with no permission at all.

Once I flag a match and click approve, how fast does the DMCA notice actually get sent?

Accepted Answer

Send vs. removal: clicking "Approve & send" submits the notice server-side through the platform’s own takedown webform using the auth cookies you saved at signup, so the request hits the platform’s queue immediately — typically the same day. Removal is governed by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c): the platform must act on a valid notice within a few business days; in practice YouTube and SoundCloud come down within 48–72 hours. LicenseTrack’s job is the timely send; the statutory clock for removal runs on the platform’s end.

On the proof page, what exactly do the certificate and the blockchain anchor prove?

Accepted Answer

The certificate is a one-page record of every detection: a SHA-256 fingerprint hash of your track, the detection ID, the platform and URL, the confidence score, the exact timestamp, the chain hash that links this detection to the previous one on the same track (Previous Chain Hash reads "Genesis" for the first detection), and the hash algorithm. The blockchain anchor is an optional second layer on top — when you enable it, every detection’s chain hash is also written to a public ledger via the Polsia public-chain proxy on Ethereum Mainnet, with transaction ID, block number, and anchor timestamp written into the certificate. Together they prove the detection existed at that timestamp and on that chain — verifiable by anyone, including lawyers or trust-and-safety teams, even if LicenseTrack as a company did not exist tomorrow.

If a licence dispute goes wrong on LicenseTrack’s side, do you refund the licence fee or issue a credit?

Accepted Answer

Subscription refunds follow the standard rule — the 7-day trial is free, and you can request a refund within 7 days of a charge being made. Licence-dispute credits or refunds are different: they are handled case-by-case through the existing contract dispute path (the contract template governs — disputes are resolved in the courts of California). Every case is reviewed by a real person, but we do not promise blanket credits: a credit or refund is only the natural outcome when it is clear the licence breach is on our side, not when the dispute is about the licensee’s downstream use.
